Is there chlorine in a salt water spa?

It’s time to clear the air. Set the record straight. Rectify the situation.

Salt water spas are NOT chlorine-free.

It’s a commonly held misconception. But the truth is, just like traditionally sanitized spas, salt water spas depend on chlorine to keep them clean and clear. The difference is in HOW that chlorine comes about.

Salt water purification systems use electrodes to generate the chlorine that in-turn keeps your spa water safe and clean. Since the system generates the chlorine, you don’t have to worry about constantly balancing spa chemicals, and many of those daily and weekly water care chores are eliminated. You will still need to test your water weekly with a test strip, clean the system’s electrode cell every 3 months and follow a few other guidelines  – but that’s it. And compared to traditional spa water care, it’s a breeze!

But beyond that, are many other benefits to owning a salt water spa, too.

The Hot Spring ACE System uses salt and technology to generate active oxygen and other cleaners (including that small amount of chlorine), so your spa water isn’t full of chemicals. You’ll enjoy water that’s fresh and sanitized, without a heavy chemical or chlorine smell.

That lack of chemicals is actually great for your skin, too. Not only will you be able to enjoy a relaxing soak in your new Hot Springs Spa, but you’ll emerge with soft skin that hasn’t been irritated by harsh chemicals. Salt water systems are perfect for people with sensitive skin.

If you’re looking for a hot tub to help ease your aches and pains, some experts say a salt water hot tub may offer added benefits. Warm salt water is a recommended treatment for recovery from exercise and overexertion.
