The explorer hacked his way through the dense jungle as his team of men followed closely behind. Pack animals laden with supplies ambled along as the men fought to create a path in the stifling heat and humidity, the sunlight glinting off their chest plates and helmets.
They searched for something elusive. The Fountain of Youth. That mythical source of the “water of life” that can grant eternal youthfulness and longevity.
The team pressed on, when suddenly the jungle foliage began to thin, and the temperature began to cool. The explorer knew he was close to another water source. Would this finally be what he was looking for?
They breached the final barrier and entered a clearing. In the center stood not a spring, but something … unexpected. A swim spa. Was this finally it? Was this the secret to staying young?
Turns out, maybe so. Water exercise can be a great way to stay flexible and fit as you age, because the water removes the pressure of gravity on your muscles and joints. You can move with more ease and comfort – and if you have a swim spa, you can do it in the privacy of your own home.
A swim spa is also flexible enough to allow for different exercises so you can enjoy variety while you maintain your health and wellness. Swimming is great exercise, of course. But you can also do water aerobics, run or walk on an optional underwater treadmill, use an optional rowing attachment, or use water weights for a complete workout. Your body will benefit from both the cardiovascular and weight-bearing exercises. (And the grandkids will love it!)
Another benefit – the water pressure can actually help improve your blood circulation and decrease your blood pressure. That’s something that can benefit many of us as we age.
So – is regular water exercise the mythical Fountain of Youth? Our explorers decided so. In fact, they still enjoy water exercise every day. As for you? Well, you’ll have to decide for yourself. The good news is, all you have to do is take a dip in your swim spa to find out!
